Five Boro Electrical Contractors Association was formed in 1957. This association consists of over 250 independent, licensed electrical contractors performing work throughout the five boros of New York City. Through this association, contractors are kept informed of the important issues facing their business and the ever changing codes and details from the public utilities and NYC Dept. of Buildings. The contractors who make up this association perform all facets of work in the electrical contracting industry.

WHAT IS THE FIVE BORO ELECTRICAL
CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION?

The Five Boro Electrical Contractors Association was formed in 1957 by a small group of licensed electrical contractors solely for the purpose of bringing a lawsuit against the City of New York in regard to fees being constantly increased for the renewal of the license. After winning this case, they decided to try to increase the group's membership to better inform licensed contractors on new ideas, problems arising in the industry, etc., and as they say, "the rest is history."

Today, Five Boro is over 250 strong and still growing. It is a viable voice in the industry -- a voice recognized by the NYC Dept. Buildings - Electrical Div., Con Edison, LIPA, and the New York Board of Fire Underwriters, among others -- to bring information to its members, taking on individual problems, and trying to resolve them.

In its 51 years of existence, it has become one of the most recognized associations in the city of New York, garnering acceptance and respectful attention by the mere mention of its name.

Welcome to the Five Boro Web Site

Let me tell you about us. Five Boro Electrical Contractors Association is a trade-related organization comprised solely of New York City licensed Master Electricians. In 1957 a small number of licensed electrical contractors combated the unjustified license fee increase by the city of New York; these men succeeded in the endeavor, and thus Five Boro was Born.

Since its formation, Five Boro has not only grown in number of members, it has grown in status as the watchdog for the licensed electrical contractor in all of our industry-related matters, for which we have fully functioning committees which interact with the city of New York, Con Edison, LIPA, and independent inspection agencies.

We serve our members with guest speakers at our monthly meetings, with seminars, educational classes, and much, much more.

When they are justified, we are on the front line with our members who have problems with the city or utility companies.

Members can always find another member willing to help or give advice on things like how to do a particular installation, where to get material or equipment they are not familiar with, and many other needs.

If you are a licensed electrical contractor who believes it is important to have firsthand information which will help you in business, call Five Boro’s office (718-846-1102) to make arrangements to come to one of our meetings. I know you’ll be filling out an application that night.
